Taking Immersive Audio Across The Border

Located in the industrial city of Monterrey, MX, Malonic Records is a new Dolby Atmos integrated studio that specializes in recording, mixing, and mastering. Capable of mixing in Dolby Atmos 7.1.4, Malonic Records is also outfitted with large studio monitors from Ocean Way Audio.

Studio Designer, Electrical Engineer, and frequent Westlake Pro collaborator Horacio Malvicino of Malvicino Design Group recently took Immersive Audio across the border to Monterrey, Mexico to build a Dolby Atmos integrated studio for Malonic Records. Requiring the best immersive gear for the job, Horacio reached out to Stephen Bannister, Westlake Pro’s Enterprise Account Executive.

Getting The Gear For The Job

With a spacious live room capable of accommodating up to 10 musicians simultaneously, Malonic Records needed a large variety of equipment so they could satisfy the needs of any client that walked through their doors.

“Between the various microphones needed to properly record a live band & orchestra and the outboard gear to support it, there were a lot of pieces we needed to source to make this studio happen,” Bannister said. “Luckily, thanks to our relationships with our vendors, we were able to get the gear within their needed time frame.”

Variable acoustics as well as wall & ceiling diffusion are Horacio’s trademark in the studio/live room area. Additionally, to ensure maximum isolation, each room was built using a “room within a room” architecture. Finally, a private lounge and kitchen area were designed to provide maximum comfort throughout the session.

Equipment Suited For Any Client
