Bridging The Gap In Audio & Visual Production
Nestled in the creative hub of Santa Monica, Green Room 180 is a cutting-edge green screen facility designed to meet the dynamic needs of the media industry. Born in October 2022, Green Room 180 was founded by Glenn Longacre and Crispin Barrymore, who recognized the necessity for a full-service pre- and post-production house. Located within arm’s reach of leading advertising agencies and film and television studios, Green Room 180 is a testament to its founders’ vision of creating a space that bridges the gap between high-quality audio and visual production.
Green Room 180 distinguishes itself within the realm of production studios with its exceptional 3-wall green screen stage. Fully equipped with the latest lighting and camera technology, it serves as a turnkey space for film, audio recording, and photography needs. The studio was designed with an emphasis on delivering superior audio production and high-resolution video capabilities, ranging from 4K to 8K with live streaming functions. It caters to a wide range of projects, including music videos, advertising content, documentary work, and television and film scoring.
Iconic Pro Audio Gear At The Backbone
Within the walls of Green Room 180 lies a state-of-the-art mixing and editing suite, at the heart of which is an impressive SSL 4000 56-channel console, Tangerine digital automation, and Genelec monitors, paired with Pro Tools Ultimate software and an impressive array of Virtual Instruments and plugins. Their collection of outboard gear includes a Manley Force mic preamp, Apogee Symphony I/O MKII, and Universal Audio 1176LN.
Much of the studio’s audio and video equipment was facilitated by Westlake Pro’s Danny Fasold. Says Longacre, “Danny has been the consummate pro, not only being responsive with our needs but having the knowledge about the right equipment that we needed at the right time.”
The Best In Video Production Equipment
Westlake Pro, while best known for pro audio sales, also furnishes clients such as Green Room 180 with cutting-edge video production gear. At the core of Green Room 180’s video editing rig is a Mac Studio and Blackmagic Design production equipment, including the HyperDeck Studio 4K Pro, ATEM 1 M/E Production Studio 4K, and the ATEM 1 M/E Control Panel, providing an expert post-production setup. The integration of Blackmagic hardware into their workflow allows Green Room 180 to capture and live-stream video with seamless camera switching, as well as to engage in virtual production using powerful tools like Unreal Engine and Blender.
Looking To The Future
In addition to the main studio, Green Room 180’s other facility on the Kodak campus extends its services to immersive and augmented reality video production. Here, the focus shifts to extended reality (XR), augmented reality (AR) workflow solutions, and internal research and development, keeping the company at the forefront of technological advances in media production.
Looking to the future, Longacre and Barrymore follow the philosophy of “if you build it, they will come.”
The Santa Monica studio’s recent upgrade has equipped Green Room 180 to record performances of every kind, with the near future holding a lineup of high-profile music videos, daily live-streamed broadcasts for a major television network, and a virtual interactive set.
