Steven Slate made big waves at this year’s NAMM convention with the debut of his new eight-channel VRS8 interface and ML2 small diaphragm virtual microphone. These new products, along with Slate’s ever-growing list of plugins emulating in-demand vintage equipment and last year’s breakout ML1 large diaphragm virtual mic, constitute the Virtual Recording Studio.

We were honored to have Steven here at Westlake Pro to demo these new products and the VRS to a packed house. After introducing the products, the Slate House Band laid down a tune (recorded with Slate virtual microphones, naturally), and Steven used the just-recorded track to demonstrate the mic modeling, as well as mixing, capabilities of his software.

Jazz bassist Joseph Pernicano was our lucky giveaway winner for the night, taking home a Slate Virtual Microphone System. Congrats, Joseph! We can’t wait to hear what you think.

Thanks to Steven and his team for a great night! Watch the entire event below.
