Description
The Sennheiser MKH 8070 is a long shotgun microphone featuring extreme directivity and reliable distant sound capture under the toughest sonic and climatic conditions
The Sennheiser MKH 8070 long shotgun microphone is purpose-built for picking up distant sources with high-quality sound. Its very natural sound makes it an excellent choice for ENG*, major broadcast, and sporting events. However, it also can be a secret weapon for music recording, particularly snare drum. One multi-platinum producer’s trick for capturing the full bloom of a snare is to place a shotgun mic behind the drummer’s right shoulder, about four feet up, facing down at the snare. The extreme directivity and pronounced lobar pick-up pattern will capture the fullness of the snare while eliminating bleed from the rest of the kit. For field recording, the MKH 8070 will capture crucial, yet fleeting moments from a distance, even under the toughest sonic and climatic conditions. The MKH 8070’s special design ensures attenuation of off-axis sound without coloration. Like all mics of the 8000-family it can be easily combined with the MZD 8000 digital module, turning it into a full-fledged digital microphone.
