Own one of the very best sounding discrete Class-A summing mixers ever made!

A custom production run of COMMANDERS was designed and hand-built by Steve Firlotte in Los Angeles. His classic tube and discrete designs are found in a multitude of studios, used by studio-industry heavyweights. Steve’s designs are the heart of Inward Connections and Tree Audio equipment. From home studios to mastering studios, it’s no wonder that Inward Connections is among the top sellers from vintage dealers. Steve’s clients include some of the very biggest names in the recording industry.
This summing mixer won the first Certified Hit Award from MIX MAGAZINE because it’s the only summing mixer that incorporates studio AND mastering features in one box. Every mastering engineer uses VU METERS, and now you can really get the full view of your sonic dynamics. Erik Zobler, the MIX MAGAZINE reviewer said, “It has a depth, width and clarity I was not used to hearing. Once I heard this sound, there was no way I was going to send this box back.”

Mixing Features:

• 12 Inputs including eight balanced transformerless XLR channels with individual PAN and ON/MUTE switches, plus four additional XLR inputs – (can be stereo pairs) – 2 assigned direct left, 2 assigned direct right.

• Stereo buss insert send/return (assignable to either the stereo buss or the “Source B” stereo input)

• Stereo buss has independent ON/MUTE buttons

• Smooth continuous stereo rotary fader (the BIG knob)

Mastering features:

• Stereo ON buttons are followed by a mono button to sum the stereo output. This also allows you to listen in mono or PRINT in mono. Plus it allows left-vs-right comparisons assigned into a center location. This is important when you want to accurately compare the low end of your left output vs. your right output. This feature eliminates any acoustic differences caused by L-R room variations.

• Mastering-style VU sensitivity selector to prevent “slammed meters.”

• Separate L-R mutes

• 8 analog pan and mute controls plus 4 dedicated L-R inputs

• Toggle to a Source B input with independent level-matching volume control which allows any stereo source to be A/B’d with your summing mix.

• Level-match your mix with other mastered recordings, compare with your software 2-track output, use as an instant reference for consistency with other mixes in a project.

• Cine-Mag transformer-balanced L-R outputs

• High-end audiophile style power cable feeds cleaner power to the unit, improving imaging and solidity.

This unit was built years ago, but kept in the manufacturer’s stock room and used briefly as a demo unit, so it has no actual original owner. All lights, switches, pans work, checked over recently by Steve Firlotte. This unit uses the SPA 690 discrete blocks, so it’s “character” is clean and open and robust. NO CHIPS in the audio path. Rugged construction and all users cheer the reliability of Firlotte’s work.

Sonically it out-performs ANY IC chip circuit. NO cheap surface-mount parts anywhere. This has the open, wide, un-inhibited warm and clear sound you want from an analog mixer that has comes from decades of uncompromising quality design and hit-record success in it’s lineage.
