Description

Native Instruments Maschine Mk3 is an expandable, integrated hardware/software groovebox with a built-in 24-bit/96kHz audio interface, sampler, arranger, mixer, and FX processor with an 8GB sample library

Much like The Doctor’s Tardis, Native Instruments Maschine Mk3 is much bigger on the inside. Measuring approximately 12″ x 12″ and 1-1/2 inches thick, and weighing in at less than five lbs., NI’s powerhouse beat-making Maschine is an integrated hardware software system, featuring a sampler, arranger, mixer, FX processor and 24-bit/96kHz audio interface. Inside Maschine Mk3 lurks an impressive and wide-ranging 8GB library of high-quality samples, sliced loops, drum kits, instruments, patterns, and projects. Plus, Maschine Mk3 also includes Komplete 11, which comprises 11 premium virtual instruments, such as Massive and Monark, as well as effects. And if all that isn’t enough, you can expend your library with Maschine Expansions, Komplete, and NKS-standard virtual instruments, as well as a Komplete Kontrol S-Series keyboard, giving you a sonic palette as vast as the time vortex itself.

Native Instruments Maschine Mk3 in one take:

  • Full-featured groove box/arranger lets you create and perform tracks and beats
  • Integrated hardware/software system includes sampler, arranger, mixer, FX, and 24-bit/96kHz audio interface
  • Includes Maschine 2.0 software and sound library plus Komplete 11 Select

What’s new in Native Instruments Maschine Mk3

While Maschine Mk3 sports a new look, its facelift isn’t merely for looks. With added functionality, Maschine Mk3 takes NI’s classic groove box workflow and picks up its pace with user-requested features.

Larger, more sensitive pads

The Mk3’s 16 ultra-responsive, multi-colored drum-trigger pads make it easier to perform complex moves, such as flams and rolls. For more expressive playing, the pads have also been made more sensitive to touch. There are three modes for performance and music creation: Pad mode for drum performance; Keyboard mode, which lets you play the Mk3 like a piano; and Step mode, which enables you to program sounds, automate pitch, volume, LFO, or any other parameter step by step for incredibly intricate and musical results. For long-time users of Maschine, upgrading to Mk3, you be happy to know that the center-to-center distance of the pads is exactly the same, which means your muscle memory and workflow remain the same—no time wasted dealing with a new learning curve.

Dual high-resolution displays

With two full-color displays and four-directional push encoder, you can browse sounds, effects, plug-ins, and instruments with one hand, complete with visual feedback. Simply find the appropriate thumbnail and load directly from the hardware. Additionally, the high-definition display screens enable you to mix with greater precision, see an overview of your arrangement, or zoom in on waveforms to surgically slice samples without looking at your computer screen.

Studio-quality audio interface

Maschine now comes with a high-quality, 24-bit/96kHz audio interface that captures and plays back crystal-clear sound. Just connect a synth or use a dynamic mic for recording and sampling. Maschine’s interface has stereo line and MIDI ports, which enable it to be the hub of your studio. And, since it’s USB-powered, you can use your laptop to record anywhere. Using the included power supply will let the touch pads shine brighter.

Maschine Mk3 Key Features:

 Faster workflow

The hardware layout of Mk3 is designed to help you stay in the creative mode to keep you from losing your ideas to housekeeping functions. Instead of being hidden under layers of menus, accessible only via shift-function buttons, the most used features and functions are available at single touch. Its ultra-fast, tag-based browser uses Maschine’s two full-color display screens and 4-directional push encoder lets you quickly find any project, group, sound, instrument, effect, or sample, and load it.

For a more realistic feel, you can program accents and ghost notes quickly with 16 fixed velocity levels, or go full-on electronica and get a smooth, constant volume when triggering samples.

Smart strip to teach an old performance dog new tricks

The Smart Strip opens up Maschine to entirely new ways of playing. You can use it like a keyboard mod wheel for pitch-bend and modulation; add new sonic textures, builds, or transitions with advanced performance effects, such as stutter and scratch. For the utmost in realistic expression, you can even strum samples, synths, and drums like a guitar.

Maschine Mk3 Top Three Software Features:

Ideas View

The Ideas view makes sketching and arranging tracks more intuitive, by enabling you to record alternate musical phrases or play different beats without stopping. Then you can mix and match until you find a groove you like.

Parameter snapshot morphing

The aforementioned Lock function lets you freeze current settings, tweak sounds, change an envelope, and return back to your initial settings at the press of a button. Combining Lock with the new Morph function lets you create new transitions or add improvisation during a performance.

Variation Engine

The new Variation Engine is in essence, an idea machine, that lets you add texture to a track and randomize to create new patterns and melodies on the fly. Additionally, a humanize function lets you add a little swing to your drums.
