Faster sound library navigation

Scrolling through thousands of sounds and loading them one at a time to hear if they work an is more than a little daunting, time-consuming, not to mention creativity killing. Now you can find exactly what you’re looking for across all Komplete and Native Kontrol Standard (NKS) instruments using a simple, intuitive tagging system, directly from the S61 surface. More importantly, you can hear an instant preview of each sound as you browse.

Looking for a hip hop kit? Select Drums > Urban Drum Kit > Sample-based, scroll through the presets and pick the right one for your track. If it’s a sound you’ll want to come back to, simply tag it as a Favorite for instant access next time.

Pre-mapped for plug-and-play control

All Komplete and NKS instruments are pre-mapped to the S61 controller by the instrument designers themselves—access to all performance parameters doesn’t better than that. All essential parameters load instantly and are displayed across the two color displays. The sound parameters are intuitively organized into pages so you can see exactly what you’re adjusting in real time, whether it’s in kHz, dB, or BPM.

Special performance modes

To keep you in the right key, notes of the currently selected scale or mode are indicated via the Light Guide. Chord mode enables you to build and perform a chord progression by playing single keys. From there, you can activate the arpeggiator and turn the progression into an expressive musical performance. If you’re new to the keyboard, Easy Mode maps the white keys to whichever scale you select, so you’ll never hit a wrong note and learn their position on the keyboard.

Precision pitch, mod, and expression controls

 The S61 has two ergonomic, rubberized wheels engineered to give you precision control of pitch and mod functions. And for a little extra fun (as if the S61 itself isn’t enough), it also features an ultra-sensitive touch strip that offers a responsive alternative to connecting a dedicated expression pedal.

Hands-on DAW control from the keyboard

Compose and create directly from the keyboard. Komplete Kontrol S61 gives you access to transport, mixing, and editing in Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, and GarageBand, complete with visual feedback and volume metering on the keyboard’s built-in displays. And with MIDI I/O, incorporating outboard gear into your setup is just as simple.

Integration for all your virtual instruments

“NKS instruments” is an extended plug-in format that gives S61 users hands-on control over hundreds of instruments from leading manufacturers, including Heavyocity, Spitfire, and Soniccouture. NKS enables developers to define the way their products integrate with NI hardware. NKS provides powerful features, such as tag-based browsing, Light Guide feedback, and pre-mapped controls to extend beyond the Komplete universe. However, you don’t have to wait for VST instrument manufacturers to get up to speed on NKS. It’s simple to create your own maps from Komplete Kontrol software.

Once you register you Komplete Kontrol hardware, Komplete 11 SELECT is available as a free download. It’s an essential collection of instruments and effects, including MASSIVE, MONARK, and THE GENTLEMAN. The package features more than 2,500 sounds and over 25GB of instruments and effects, giving you a wide range of sounds for any genre. And since you can never have enough sounds, you’ll also be eligible for a discounted upgrade to Komplete 11 or Komplete 11 ULTIMATE.
