The Ashby-5C self-powered ceiling mount installation loudspeaker is designed for applications where wide-coverage, accurate music reproduction, voice intelligibility, and low distortion even at high sound levels are required.
The Ashby-5C loudspeakers are engineered to the same award-winning standards as all other Meyer Sound’s IntelligentDC loudspeakers and include onboard amplification with sophisticated signal processing and exhibit the same flat frequency and phase responses for which Meyer Sound loudspeakers are known. As a self-powered loudspeaker, the Ashby-5C features extremely low distortion, linearity and high sound pressure levels unequalled by other in-ceiling loudspeakers of comparable size. In addition, the self-powered advantage offer simplified installation, consistency and excellent results in any application where high-quality audio is a must.
Housed in an integrated metal back-can to meet commercial fire codes and using discrete low-profile grilles that fit into any décor the Ashby can be mounted flush in ceilings.
The Ashby-5C’s smooth and consistent wide 100-degree coverage allows fewer speakers to cover a larger area, reducing overall system cost while maintaining the highest sound quality.
Designed and manufactured at Meyer Sound’s factory in Berkeley, California, the Ashby-5C transducers are mounted on innovative concentric configurations to maximize the surface of the waveguide creating a very consistent and wide coverage on the high frequencies. The Ashby-5C includes a 5-inch cone driver and a 0.75” metal dome tweeter.
With IntelligentDC technology, the Ashby-5C loudspeaker receives DC power and balanced audio from a single Phoenix™ 5-pin male connector. Powering the units from an external source eliminates the need for wiring conduits while still preserving the advantages of self-powered systems.
The Ashby-5C requires an external MPS-488HP IntelligentDC power supply. The single-space 19-inch rack unit distributes DC power and balanced audio to the Ashby-5C loudspeakers, or other Meyer Sound IntelligentDC loudspeakers. Composite multi-conductor cables, such as Belden® 1502 or equivalent, can deliver both DC power and balanced audio to a single loudspeaker at cable lengths up to 450 feet (137m) with just 1 dB of loss in peak SPL using 18 AWG wire. Longer cable runs are possible with heavier gauges. Meyer Sound’s RMS remote monitoring system is optionally available for the MPS-488HP.
Standard color is white but custom colors are available for installations with specific cosmetic requirements.
