Description

Warm saturation and dynamics processing

Founded in 2010 in Warsaw, Poland, Looptrotter Audio has since brought to market an arsenal of high-quality outboard gear for analog saturation and dynamics processing. Their SATUR line of analog saturation units uses solid state discrete class-A circuitry to endow audio with pleasing analog saturation, warmth, and when desired, attitude. Looptrotter’s founder, Andrzej Starzyk, has been obsessively designing and building audio electronics since the age of 16, and his passion for high-quality audio shines through in his company’s designs.

Looptrotter SATurAmp in one take:

  • Microphone and instrument preamplifier equipped with Looptrotters famous solid-state saturation circuit in a 500 series format
  • Saturation circuit smoothes signal peaks and adds pleasing low order harmonics.
  • 3 high pass filter options: 60Hz, 100Hz, and 160Hz
  • Input has a SOWTER transformer, based on the AP2620, found in legendary API preamps

A Preamp to Warm Your Audio

While modern digital recording offers unparalleled convenience and usability, many engineers find that purely digital recordings lack the warmth and character of their analog counterparts. One of the best ways to make sure your audio has analog warmth and character is to run it through an excellent analog preamp on the way into your DAW. And for this purpose, Looptrotter Audio’s SATurAmp is the perfect tool. Conveniently built in 500 series format, the SATurAmp uses solid state discrete class-A circuitry to boost your audio signal while enriching it with delicious saturation. The heart of the SATurAmp is Looptrotters famous solid-state saturation circuit, which adds pleasing harmonics and peak reduction to endow your audio with analog warmth and color.

Intelligent Design Provides Everything You Need

The SATurAmp’s design is truly elegant, with simple controls that give you all the options you need. While the signal path is 100% audio, the gain adjustment control is digital, allowing for precise adjustment in 1dB increments. Amplification amount is shown on a digital display so you can easily know exactly how much you’re boosting the signal. There are 3 high pass filter options: 60Hz, 100Hz, and 160Hz, to keep out unwanted low-frequency rumble. The SATurAmp’s phase inverter switch, -20db pad, and 48-volt phantom power button give you all the features you’d expect from a professional preamp. The Hi-Z instrument input uses discrete Class A FET transistor that enriches the signal with a touch of even harmonic frequencies, adding warmth to the instrument’s signal. There is a button to turn saturation on or off, although most users will likely always want it on. If you want warm, fat, analog sound, think Looptrotter’s SATurAmp!
