Korg NANOKEY2 Black
Slimline USB MIDI Keyboard/Controller, second generation (Black)
The Korg nanoKEY2 is a USB-powered MIDI controller with 25 velocity-sensing keys and advanced design for recording with laptop and netbook computers
Keyboards are the most effective way to record MIDI parts and virtual instruments into DAWs, but not everyone is a keyboard player, nor does everyone need a full-length keyboard to enter notes. However, for proper expression, you do need features that come with a professional, full-length keyboard, such as velocity sensing, good response, great touch and playability, even in a mini keyboard. The Korg nanoKEY2 is just such a keyboard, designed for use with small systems, such as DJ rigs or laptop-based home studios.
Korg nanoKEY2 USB MIDI controller in one take:
- Low-profile, 25-key USB-MIDI keyboard, ideal for use with laptop and netbook computers
- Advanced-design keybed offers improved accuracy and velocity-sensitive keys
- Sustain button, ideal for entering piano parts
Accurate, responsive, and great-feeling key bed
The nanoKEY2’s key bed features the great-feeling touch that Korg developed for its professional MIDI keyboards, and low-profile thinness. It has a superior keyboard response for its size, with ample key width, and plenty of space between the keys, for performance accuracy. The touch and velocity response have been carefully tuned, ensuring that your expression will be properly translated to your DAW.
Versatile control buttons
Since its keyboard only has a two octave range, the nanoKEY2 has octave shift buttons that enable a four-octave shift up or down, thus extending the range of the nanoKEY2. The nanoKEY2 also has pitch-bend buttons, modulation button, and a sustain button, for piano or electric piano performance. To accommodate your playing style, the on/off switching for each of these buttons can be specified in four levels (using the Korg Kontrol Editor), ensuring smooth changes appropriate for your performance.
Korg Kontrol Editor software
To customize settings without having to scroll through complicated menus on a small display, the nanoKEY2 works in conjunction with Korg Kontrol Editor software, which is a fee download on the Korg website. Once in your computer, you can make detailed customized settings. You can choose from three velocity curves or fixed velocity, and specify the control-change messages transmitted by the modulation button and the sustain button.
USB power for streamlined setup
The nanoKEY2 transmits MIDI data and power via a single USB cable to your computer. It doesn’t get simpler and easier than that to have a portable, yet powerful music production system, and an efficient work space.
Apple iPad Compatibility
Korg nanoSERIES2 controllers, including the nanoKEY2, nanoPAD2, and nanoKONTROL2 can now be used with the iPad via the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit, providing MIDI control using the Apple Core MIDI features. Apple iOS 4.2.1 is supported, and the app needs to support Core MIDI. If you are using multiple nanoSERIES2 controllers, or plan to use a single nanoSERIES2 for an extended period of time, please use a powered USB hub.
If you’re working in a space-challenged studio or need a small keyboard controller for live gigs or DJ rigs, order a Korg nanoKEY2 today. For more information, call or chat online with your Westlake Pro sales consultant.
