More than 1,000 preset sounds

Korg’s inspiring sounds are endorsed by the world’s best musicians. But never content to rest on their laurels, Korg expanded both the internal programs of the Kross 2 workstation from 809 to 1,075, and expands polyphony from 80 voices to 120 voices. These sounds Include multi-layered pianos, electric pianos, thick strings, and other new sounds that any band or keyboardist will find musically useful, as well as the latest drum kits to cover current styles, such as EDM. With its versatile sound bank spanning many genres, the Kross 2 will satisfy your needs in both live performance and studio production.

Built-in PCM expansion memory

The Kross 2 comes with 128MB of PCM expansion memory. By selecting from optional libraries, you can expand the number of Koss 2’s internal sounds to suite your performing style or creative needs.

Expressive EDS-i sound engine and full complement of high-quality effects

The high-quality EDS-i Enhanced Definition Synthesis-integrated sound engine is taken from Korg’s professional synthesizers. You can use a total of seven effects units simultaneously: five insert and two master. The sound-shaping capabilities of 134 high-quality effects include delay and reverb, as well as amp modeling, vintage effect units, and even a vocoder.

Sample recorder/player with trigger pads

A first in its class, Kross 2 is equipped with a sampling function with 16 playable pads. You can stereo samples of up to 14 seconds via the line-in jack and assign them to each pad. Up to four pads can be triggered simultaneously. You can edit sample waveforms with functions including start/end loop point settings and normalize. You can also resample within the Kross 2, allowing you to perform complex sampling without additional equipment. Long audio files from an SD card can also be assigned to these pads.

Straightforward access to sounds and functions you need

Kross 2 features a user-friendly layout. The panel of the Kross 2 has been further improved since the first Kross, ensuring quick access to desired sounds and functions from the enormous range of choices.

Real-time control section

The new real-time control section lets you directly control Kross 2’s main parameters without having to navigate through a menu hierarchy. In addition to real-time control of the sounds and effects, and simple editing of programs, you can use the knobs to easily control the vocoder settings or adjust the tempo of the arpeggiator and sequencer.

Favorites function

The Favorites function lets you register frequently-used programs and combinations and recall them with a single touch. Favorites has even been expanded to allow 128 favorite locations, twice the number of the first generation of Kross. This function is ideal for players that need quick access to a specialized set of sounds on stage.

Quick layer/split

The layer/split function lets you layer two sounds or assign separate sounds to the left and right regions of the keyboard. Layer/split is now easier to set up, thanks to a dedicated function button.

Category dial

The Kross 2 has a category dial that assists you in quickly finding the sounds you’re looking for amid the vast range of choices. Just choose the general type of sound, such as piano or organ, and then make your selection quickly and efficiently.

Ultra light-weight and compact body, with improved battery life

The 61-key Kross 2 features a stylish redesign, with its weight reduced from the previous model to an even more lightweight 8.3 lb. (3.8 kg). Taking its easy portability even further, it supports battery operation, with improvements in power efficiency extending battery life up to seven hours using six AA batteries. On the rear panel, the KORG logo is fully illuminated, letting people know you’re a keyboardist of style and taste.

Unique, high-quality finish

The evolved Kross 2 also features a high-quality finish. The 61-key Kross 2 uses a “super matte black” color with a high-quality rubberized finish that’s both durable and feels great to the touch. Lavish use of this sophisticated rubberized finish gives the instrument a highly professional appearance. The 61-key model is additionally available in a limited-edition “red marbled” color. The unique red marbled finish is different on each Kross 2.

Audio player/recorder can be triggered from the pads

The Kross 2 has a built-in stereo recorder lets you record your performances, or overdub an external source, such as vocals. There’s also a pad function that lets you assign recorded sounds or imported audio files to each of the 16 pads for playback. Unlike the sampling function, this allows extended recording and playback, limited only by the capacity of the SD card. For example, you can use a pad to play the backing tracks of an entire song as you perform on the keyboard, or use the pads to trigger sound effects.

16-track MIDI sequencer

The Kross 2 has 16-track MIDI sequencer that can record your keyboard performance and controller movements as MIDI data. It can also record your pad sampler performance, providing an easy way for you to sketch songs ideas and arrangements.

Step sequencer

The step sequencer lets you use the keyboard’s 16 pads to enter notes in the exact order and duration you want to create patterns of up to 64 steps.

Drum track

The drum track lets you add rhythm to your performance simply by pressing a button. Choose from 772 preset drum patterns that cover a variety of styles.

This function is a great way to generate ideas for songs; simply hold down keys to generate rhythmic chords, bass phrases, or guitar strumming.

Inputs for dynamic mics and audio players

A 1/4″ input jack lets you connect a mic directly, enabling you or another singer to perform without need for a mixer. A vocoder function is also built-in with access via the real-time control section. A stereo mini-jack is also available for connecting audio players or for sampling.

Operates as a USB audio interface

In addition to USB MIDI, the Kross 2 adds a USB audio interface. You can connect to your Mac or Windows computer* for DAW recording, or for playing in conjunction with your iPad or iPhone**. Plus, the Korg Module app can be used as a high-quality external sound module playable by the Kross 2, or you can perform with backing of tracks created via the KORG Gadget DAW app—with the ease of connecting a single cable.

*For connection to PC, use the USB cable (sold separately).

*For connection to the iPad/iPhone, use the Apple Lightning – USB camera adapter (sold separately)

A dedicated KROSS2 Editor and Plug-In Editor are also provided, which let you view and edit numerous parameters at a glance on your computer, or use the Kross 2 as a software synthesizer from within your DAW.

Designed with unbounded creativity in mind, Korg Kross 2 is a versatile synthesizer workstation that can help you go wherever your artistic vision leads. For more information, call or chat online with your Westlake Pro Sales Consultant today.
