Description

Focusrite AM2 provides convenient monitoring via headphones or powered monitors wherever it’s required within the RedNet network system. A compact, flexible Dante-compatible stereo monitoring unit, RedNet AM2 features the latest two-channel Dante receiver and provides high-quality digital to analog conversion at up to 96kHz for accurate monitoring on loudspeakers or headphones. RedNet AM2 features a ¼” front-panel TRS headphone socket plus a pair of balanced rear-panel line outputs with male XLR connectors for loudspeaker monitoring and other applications. RedNet AM2 is capable of driving high- or low-impedance headphones at high levels. Plus, the AM2 can deliver high output power to headphones. Two large volume control knobs are provided for Headphone and line output levels. The line-level volume knob is accompanied by a mute button with associated LED. Other indicators show the presence of power, network, and signal level. RedNet AM2 can be powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) or by an external DC power supply (included), providing an ideal solution for adding headphone outputs to a studio-based system as well as audio networks for education, live sound, and broadcast.

Red, RedNet, and ISA customers get a free plug-in from Focusrite and Brainworx

Brainworx bx_console Focusrite recreates the analogue signal paths of Focusrite’s revered ISA 110 and ISA 130 modules which were a part of the Focusrite Studio Console.

Designed and coded by the DSP geniuses at acclaimed software house Brainworx, the new bx_console Focusrite VST/AU/AAX plugin for Mac and PC faithfully captures the sound, feel, and styling of their original iconic hardware.

With bx_console Focusrite retailing separately for $349, its inclusion for free with all Red, RedNet, and ISA purchases is a huge deal!

In addition, customers who previously purchased any Red, RedNet, or ISA solution since January 2020 will have the plug-in available in their Focusrite account as long as they’ve registered the product.

INSIDE THE BOX—Focusrite RedNet AM2

Superb-quality D/A conversion

RedNet AM2 features a 2-channel Dante receiver based on Audinate’s ‘Ultimo’ hardware, which interconnects Dante networks with powered speakers, amplifiers, wall plates, and break-out boxes. RedNet AM2 incorporates high-quality digital to analog conversion at standard sample rates from 44.1 to 96kHz, with >118 dB dynamic range. The line-level outputs enable stereo network audio monitoring with loudspeakers and headphones.

The AM2 can be clocked either internally or via the Dante network master. Top-panel indicators show the presence of power, network, and signal. The signal indicator shows red for 0dBFS, orange at -6dBFS and green at -42dBFS on either channel, while the network indicator illuminates when a valid network connection is present on either Port 1 or 2.

High power headphone amp

Designed to drive a wide range of headphones, the AM2 amplifier will drive high-impedance (up to 600 ohm) headphones at considerable levels, making the RedNet AM2 suitable for use onstage as well as front-of-house or in a recording studio. The XLR line-level outputs have software-switchable 0dBFS reference levels of +18 or +24dBu, allowing alignment to both EBU and SMPTE standards.

Power over Ethernet or external PSU

The RedNet AM2 has two locking etherCON connectors with an integrated gigabit switch, which are used to connect to the device to the network and to daisy-chain to additional network devices. RedNet AM2 is powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) or by the rear-panel center-positive barrel connector and included 12V DC power supply. The power LED indicates green when
powered via PoE, and red when the external power supply is in use.

Full Dante interoperability

Like the entire RedNet product range, RedNet AM2 integrates seamlessly and fully with any other Dante audio-over-IP network components and infrastructure. Patching and interconnection can be managed with Dante Controller software on Mac or PC.

Purpose-built to accommodate any environment, RedNet AM2 is the perfect portable break-out solution for analog monitoring from a Dante network.

OUTSIDE THE BOX—Focusrite RedNet AM2

A compact unit mounted in an enclosure based around a sturdy road-worthy aluminum extrusion, the AM2 is fitted with non-slip feet and can either sit securely on a flat surface or be mounted on top of a mic stand using the 3/8” BSW threaded bush incorporated in the base.

The top panel Top Panel has large headphone and line-level volume pots, bi-color LED, which indicates the power source being used, RedNet network status indicator, tri-color network status LED, signal level indicator, line-out mute/reverse ID switch, with LED indicator, and ¼” stereo headphone jack.

On the rear panel of the AM2 are two RJ45 etherCON network connectors for the Dante network. Port 1 is a primary power input that uses Cat 5e or Cat 6
cables to connect RedNet AM2 to an Ethernet network switch. Power over Ethernet (PoE) can be used to power the RedNet AM2. Network Port 2 can be used to daisy-chain additional devices. This port does not accept PoE input and does not pass power. A secondary DC input is also available on the rear panel. Two XLR line outputs for use with powered monitors complete the RedNet 2’s connectivity.
