Introducing FabFilter Pro-R
Known for gorgeous design and an intuitive user interface, FabFilter makes some of the world’s leading plugins for mixing, production, and mastering. Pro-R packs all of this into a flexible algorithmic reverb with infinite possibilities and plenty of control.
What You See Is What You Get
A gorgeous frequency analyzer occupies the majority of the interface. Along with an output EQ, Pro-R features an additional set of bands which allow you to shape which frequencies have the longest, or shortest decay time. If you’re familiar with FabFilter’s Pro-Q, you’ll feel right at home with Pro-R.
Space, Any Way You Like It
Above the spectrum analyzer is a row of knobs which allow you to fine-tune the length, width, and color of your reverb. The Space knob is the largest, controlling both the decay time and the reverb algorithm itself. As you raise the decay time, the reverb morphs from small rooms, halls, chambers, and massive cathedrals. On either side of this knob are additional controls to alter the brightness and character of your reverb, which can range from clean, lively, or heavily modulated.
Mix, Width, and Distance
The Distance knob provides control over Early Reflections, while the Decay Rate is used to alter the decay time. This knob allows you to control the length of the reverb, from 50% to 200%, without changing the sound of the algorithm. The Stereo Width control allows a wide range of sounds, from tight mono spaces to phased-out, super-stereo reverb. The last knob in this section provides intelligent control over the Dry/Wet Mix. The option to lock the Mix knob in place allows you to quickly audition presets without changing the Dry/Wet settings.
Total Control
Underneath the frequency analyzer is four more controls for MIDI Learn, Pre-Delay, Analyzer, and In/Out gain. The MIDI Learn option allows you to control any parameter with a MIDI controller. Pre-Delay lets you delay the onset of the reverb. Uniquely, this knob can be tempo-synced, allowing for musical reverbs that never clash with the rhythmic elements of the song. The Analyzer selector provides three display options for the spectrum analyzer. “Reverb + Post” is the default setting, though options for “Pre + Post” and “Off” are also available. Lastly, separate In/Out gain knobs ensure proper gain staging throughout your signal chain.
Screen Saver
Like all FabFilter plug-ins, you can change the size of the plugin window itself. The smaller settings save screen space by showing only what you need. For careful editing and analysis, switch Pro-R to full screen to see every detail on the gorgeous analyzer.
Sweet Spaces Made Simple
Along with its gorgeous sound, one of Pro-R’s greatest strengths is its deceptively simple user interface. While most algorithmic reverbs feature several pages and countless parameters, Pro-R keeps things simple. With only seven knobs, it would be easy to assume that Pro-R is limited. A quick scroll through the included presets proves otherwise.
Whether you’re looking for realistic rooms, lush plates, or out-of-this-world soundscapes, Pro-R does it all!
