Boost, Cut, Shape, and Sculpt

Equalizers, or EQs, are without a doubt the most used audio processing tools in any production or recording. Whether you’re recording, mixing, or mastering, EQ gets used to shape the frequency response of each sound. While tracking, you may want to cut out low-end rumble or give a slight boost of color to a specific part of the sound. When mixing, you’ll want to identify and remove harsh frequencies while sculpting space for each instrument. Mastering uses subtle EQ moves to get the song sounding great on every playback system, while gently shaping the full mix to feel cohesive with all songs on the album. Obviously, each workflow will use different techniques to achieve their goals, and FabFilter Pro-Q 3 has all the tools to accomplish each one with ease.
