RX 8 | New, Improved, and Reimagined
iZotope RX 8 brings a lot to the table for music workflows while updating many of the most essential tools from previous versions. Edit faster than ever with new workflow enhancements including Horizontal Scrolling, an improved Batch Processor, and the ability to view and edit 32 files at one time – twice as many as previous versions of RX!
Additionally, RX 8 adds new modules and revamps many others which you can explore below.
Guitar De-noise
As one of the most pervasive instruments in modern music, a clean, articulate guitar track is pivotal to high-quality music production. RX 8 Standard introduces Guitar De-noise, a quick and easy way to manage guitar-produced sounds that can interfere with your mix when affected with limiting or compression. Reduce the prominence of electrical amplifier noise and hum, fret squeaks, and pick attacks to clarify your guitar recordings—without removing the all-important human performance element.
Music Rebalance
Are the vocals too quiet or the drums too loud? Can’t find the original stems to your song? With Music Rebalance, no mix is “final.” Using an algorithm trained with machine learning, Music Rebalance can intelligently identify vocals, bass, percussion, and other instruments and allows you to individually enhance or isolate elements of an audio track, making remastering without multitracks possible. Isolate or remove vocals from your song, or for more problematic mixes, separate each musical element into separate stems for individual processing.
Loudness Control
Prepare your recordings for final delivery with the detailed level readings and loudness management power of the all-new Loudness Control module. Instantly load preset loudness standard targets and conform your production audio to broadcast requirements in seconds, and monitor your levels using the built-in numeric and histogram readouts for integrated, short-term, and momentary loudness. Plus, resize the module to fit your display perfectly and suit your own unique workflow.
De-hum
Remove ground loop hum and line noise using improved detection and reduction algorithms featuring independent harmonic reduction bands, and a redesigned, intuitive interface.
The De-hum audio plug-in and module in iZotope RX automatically identifies the base frequency of unwanted hum and precisely removes it from the recording along with harmonics, ensuring a clean overall sound without electrical interference.
Wow & Flutter
Physical audio recordings—such as tape and vinyl—inevitably fall prey to the elements as time goes by. This often results in pitch fluctuations in audio recordings. Wow & Flutter is designed to correct this symptom regardless of the intensity of the modulating pitch. Use Wow to fix longer, sustained pitch drift, and Flutter to correct pitch variances that occur at faster rates. Wow & Flutter is the key to performing pitch-perfect music restoration in record time.
Spectral Recovery
With the increasing necessity of remote meetings, podcast interviews, and video calls, real-time audio streaming is becoming more and more prevalent. Unfortunately, audio transfer protocols over the internet compress the audio and remove high-end frequencies that aid in clarity and intelligibility. Spectral Recovery restores frequencies above 4kHz, turning grainy dialogue audio into clear, articulate recordings.

Thanks for the great demo on Rx8. I have Rx7 elements for VO work. Is an upgrade to RX 8 worth the extra. I’m not a music producer. More the willing to pay extra if the advances are noticeable improvements.
Thanks
Hey Jeff, thanks for watching the demo!
The updates and improvements will be much more noticeable if you upgrade to RX 8 Standard, though there are still some improvements for Elements users. Given the introductory discounts, now would be a good time to upgrade!
Since you’re doing VO work, RX 8 Standard will add a TON of helpful tools to your workflow including Mouth De-Click (a MUST HAVE for me!), Breath Control, Spectral Repair, De-Plosive, De-Reverb, Loudness Control, and Batch Processing.
Really powerful stuff. You can see an extreme case of De-Reverb in action in this video we did here: https://westlakepro.com/dialogue-cleanup-challenge/
Let me know if you have more questions on RX for voice over work!
